Veteran's Day

This Veteran's Day I'm reminded that remembering the past is important to God. He instructed his people to mark their arrival in the promised land with stones. They were to erect monuments, not to worship, but to remind. George Washington was a veteran, though we remember him for being the first president. His monument in our capital is a landmark of our freedom. Inscribed on the aluminum top 555 feet high are two words seen by few and unknown to most. Laus Deo. Those latin words mean simply "Praise be to God." It's appropriate to thank our veterans and all those currently serving our country for their sacrifice so we can live free. It's even more appropriate to thank our God that He makes freedom available to all. I'm so very grateful for this freedom! I'm also especially thankful today for the birthday of my 'baby' who turns 49:)! Happy Birthday, Gary!
