First Gratitude Post

To begin, I thank God that we still have a day on our calendar marking Thanksgiving. I can still pray, worship and tithe worthy causes. These freedoms may not last. So I'm thanking God for them today.

First week of November -- Halloween store clutter has given way to Christmas glitter -- and I'm annoyed. But what happened to Thanksgiving? Yes, Scripture heralds Christ's birth. But Scripture is crowded, overflows with Thanksgiving. 110 times the word 'thanks' is used. God told his people when and how to give thanks. Thanksgiving is a big deal to God -- so it should be to us. For every 'ask' we bring to God -- let's offer thanks.

November 1 marks "All Saint's Day." I am thankful for all the 'saints' in my life and their inspiration and example to me.

Tuesday, I had to go for a second mammogram, which turned out okay. So, thanks be to God and all who were praying for me for a good outcome.

My eye doctor appointment yesterday turned into a very long one... 4-1/2 hours! The doctor was not having a good day... some equipment was not working right and she had too many patients. Anyway I finally got through my eye exam... dilation and all! I did not have to change my prescription, although I may have the very slight beginning of cataracts. I will find out more about this next March in a consultation with the specialist who did my eye surgery after my fall last year. I'm thankful for all this! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says give thanks in all circumstances. How can we in difficult times? I've discovered that's when I learn the most.

I'm also very thankful for all doctors and the healthcare I receive here in Texas. I've had all my annual exams and tests for another year. I had a flu and pneumonia shot and my cholesterol was high enough that I'm on a pill for that now. I will have a retest in two months. Oh... and I had my first appointment with a dermatologist. That also was a positive experience. He froze my nose:)! It is healing well and will be cleared up soon.

Today I'm thankful for all my Senior friends and Bible study. We have a great group of people and enjoy each other so much. We are studying the Psalms.

I'll post some more gratitude's as the month goes on. Perhaps not every day... I'll see how it goes, but this is enough for now.
